Publication Design for the Centre for Projection Art.

Tailor Agency and Gertrude Street local business Seekers build annual publication with the Centre for Projection Art.

Conversations between Seekers and the Centre for Projection Art (CPA) commenced after another successful year of collaboration and support in the activation of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival (GSPF). Through the winter festival, artists find new ways to evoke emotions in public spaces around prevalent socio-economic issues in a collaborative and interactive way. Open to the public, GSPF spans two weeks of Melbourne’s July showcasing the artists’ submissions to the festival adorning shop fronts and buildings of Gertrude Street in Fitzroy.

In the dynamic realm where art, technology, and public space converge, a fascinating discourse emerges, challenging and redefining the boundaries of the way we experience artistic expression. At the heart of this discourse lie Seekers and Tailor, two entities deeply embedded in the local community of Ngar-Go/Fitzroy in Naarm. Committed to centering art as a way of everyday thinking, Seekers initiated the premise and scope of the digital zine, guided by Priya Namana and Tailor Agency, to develop the first of many historical reviews of the festival and other works from CPA.

The inception of this digital publication was a collaborative effort between the Centre for Projection Art CEO, Priya Namana and the team at Seekers and Tailor Agency. Together, they embarked on a journey to archive and document the curations of the work in 2023, navigating through the intricate web of artistic expression and civic engagement. This partnership evolved at a pace that fostered trust and sustainability, setting the stage for a meaningful review of ideas and perspectives from industry writers of the years’ visual works.

“As a member of the local community and its business network, it’s been a pleasure to work with Priya Namana from CPA and Seekers on developing this publication. My deepest gratitude extends to Dr. Jayson Stone and Kye O’Donnell of Seekers for trusting our vision of this special project. The project wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and talent of our Studio Manager, Hannah Conroy. Thank you Han!”
